Issue a document
Issuing takes three steps in the dashboard: Choose a document, Details and delivery, and Offer. Nothing here requires code; the same flow is available over the API.
Before you start
You need an issuer with at least one document on its Documents tab, and a signing certificate that's ready for it. See Set up an issuer and Documents.
Open Issue document from the sidebar, or use the Issue document button on an issuer's page to start with that issuer's documents.
Steps
- Choose a document. Pick the document to issue. The issuer is shown next to each document only when you have more than one issuer. Documents that can't be issued yet, usually because a certificate isn't ready, are listed under Not ready to issue here.
- Details and delivery. Choose One person or Many people, fill in the document's information, and choose how the customer receives the offer.
- Offer. The offer is created and you see what happens next.
Delivery
| Delivery | What happens |
|---|---|
| QR code on screen | The QR code and link appear in the dashboard for the customer to scan |
| Send by email | LutraID emails the offer to the Recipient email, in the Email language you choose |
The QR code, link and email link work for 10 minutes. After that, send a new offer.
Many people
Choose Many people to issue to a list of customers at once. Download template, fill in one row per person, then Upload spreadsheet. Rows with problems are flagged so you can fix or remove them before sending. Each person gets their offer by email.
Wallet options
Under Wallet options (Advanced options when issuing to many people) you can change two things.
Customer sign-in
Choose whether the customer signs in before adding the document:
- No sign-in: the customer adds the document straight away, with the information you entered.
- Customer signs in first: the customer signs in with your system, and LutraID then gets their information from your data source. You don't fill in the document's information.
The choice appears only for documents with customer sign-in set up. An owner or admin sets this up once:
- Add your identity provider under Developers → Customer sign-in.
- Add the lookup that returns the customer's information under Developers → Data sources.
- On the issuer's Documents tab, open Customer sign-in for the document, choose both, and enter the information set your data source expects.
PIN
Turn on Ask for a PIN when adding the document if the customer should type a PIN into their wallet before the document is added. Available with No sign-in only. The 6-digit PIN is shown to you once, after the offer is created, and is never put in the offer email, so give it to the customer another way, such as in person or by phone. If it's lost, send a new offer with a new PIN.
After the offer is created
The Offer step shows the QR code and link, the PIN if you asked for one, and the offer's progress: waiting for the wallet, adding the document, then Added to wallet. It updates by itself. From there you can Open record or Issue another document.
An unused offer expires after 10 minutes. Track every offer under Records, or read it back over the API; see Records and diagnostics.
