Questions from issuers
LutraID lets your organization issue digital documents, such as a diploma, a licence, a membership or an employee ID, to people's EUDI Wallets without building OpenID4VCI yourself. You set up an issuer, add the documents it issues, get a signing certificate ready, and send offers by QR code, email or API.
What can I issue?
Documents of a document type your organization can use. Some types are shared with every organization, such as PID, mobile driving licence or age verification; others are made for one organization. LutraID provisions document types: you can't create them from the dashboard or the API, so tell us what you need. See Document types.
Which formats do the documents use?
Both wallet formats, SD-JWT VC and ISO mdoc, unless you remove one. Remove a format only if your customers use a single wallet type. See Credential formats.
Do I need to write code?
No. You can issue from the dashboard in three steps: choose a document, fill in the details and delivery, and hand over the offer. The same flow is available over the API when you want your own system to issue. See Issue a document and Issue a credential.
How does the customer receive the document?
They scan a QR code or open a link from an email with their wallet app. The link works for 10 minutes. To issue to many people at once, upload a spreadsheet and each person gets an email. To let customers sign in with your own system first, set up Customer sign-in on the document; see the authorization code flow.
Which wallets can receive my documents?
Wallets that implement OpenID4VCI 1.0 with SD-JWT VC or ISO mdoc. See Supported wallets.
What do I need before issuing in Production?
Your organization's legal identity, the national Registrar's confirmation, and a signing certificate for each document. On the hosted service LutraID expects to provide most issuing certificates; on a self-hosted installation your own certificate authority signs them. The Production setup plan in the dashboard lists every step and who acts. See Production setup.
Can I revoke a document?
Yes. LutraID issues documents with a status list, so owners and admins can revoke one from its record. Revoking is permanent; there is no suspend. See Revoke a document.
How long is a document valid?
One year for SD-JWT VC and 365 days for ISO mdoc. Validity is not yet configurable per document type.
Can I try it before Production?
Yes. Every organization has a Sandbox environment set up the same way as Production. The Quickstart issues a demo document to your phone in about five minutes.
