Questions from relying parties
LutraID lets your organization ask a person's EUDI Wallet for specific information, such as an over-18 answer, a name or a diploma, and get back a verified result. You set up a verifier, give it a check, and start the check by QR code, email or API; LutraID validates what the wallet shares.
What can I ask a wallet for?
What a check defines: the information asked for, the documents you accept, which issuers you trust, and the purpose the wallet shows the person. Checks come from the LutraID catalogue. If nothing fits, tell us what you need to establish and we add the narrowest check that answers it. Ask for the minimum: a person is entitled to refuse a check that asks for a birth date where an over-18 answer would do. See Checks.
What does LutraID check?
The signature, the revocation status and, when the check accepts only issuers on trusted lists, the issuer. The result is Document valid, Not verified with the reason, or Verification expired. See Verify a document.
Does LutraID keep the information people share?
It depends on the mode. On the hosted service (Intermediary mode) LutraID sends each result, with the shared values, to your system and keeps none of them. On a self-hosted installation (Direct mode) LutraID keeps them for a limited time for you to read over the API. See Direct vs Intermediary mode.
Do I need to register?
For Production, yes. EU rules require the national Registrar to confirm your organization, and wallets use the registration to show the person who is asking and why. The Production setup plan in the dashboard walks you through it. Sandbox needs no registration. See Production setup.
Do I need to write code?
Not to start: you can run checks from the dashboard. To use results in your own system, start checks over the API and receive results by webhook or at your result endpoint. See Verify a credential.
Which wallets can I verify?
Wallets that implement OpenID4VP 1.0 with DCQL and present SD-JWT VC or ISO mdoc. See Supported wallets.
Can I try it before Production?
Yes. Every organization has a Sandbox environment. The Quickstart runs an age check against a demo document on your phone.
